sound quality???

my sister has a '96 max. she wants to change out her stock bose head unit b/c her cd player finally took a dump. i know the ohms are different, so we need to use a "bose interface." how does the sound quality compare to the original setup using the stock speakers???
thanks

I am in the same suitation you are POW. i bought a CD/DVD player after my bose stop playing CD. i took it today to be install they said it would have engine noise if use aftermarket CD player with bose speakers. What adaptor do i need. I took it to another shop the said all i need was some harness i am not sure now.

Thanks

XIMA96SE - that harness is probably a filter. i'm not an audio tech, but i had a similiar prob in another car of mine just like that.

Ceasars Chariot - thanks.

would i need an extra amp using the stock speakers? or do you think 50 x 4 would be sufficient? my sis is not going to be jamming out totally, but she would like it similiar to the stock bose sound quality...

Why not just go to Ebay and buy a working Bose deck? Any one from a 95-99 will work, with the later ones looking a bit better IMO. Then sell the original Bose on Ebay for parts or repair.

I installed an aftermarket HU myself and love it. No engine noise or anything. I used the adapter to get it working right.

Rip everything out! If you want sound quality- REAL sound quality- the BOSE is not the answer. Check out the audio forum.

My BOSE is out and put in a CD/DVD Player with 7in Screen the stock BOSE speakers sound really good as they are good amount of base and still get really loud I was going to put my subs in but don't want to run the wires when you really dont need that much more bass. So I wouldnt replace everything I would just change out the HU.
