Damn rotor wont come off, any Tricks to this?

I got my car on the jack and tried everything to get the rotor to come lose but it just wont budge. Is there a trick to getting this thing off?

It looks like you can tread a couple screws into the rotor to pry it off but I cant find a bolt with the correct threads. Do you guys know what size threads these are???? Im stumped.

i dont know what size but if u r taking off to put new ones on, take the new oen to a shop and see if theyc an find a bolt that goes into it. They are all the same. I had same problem and just took new rotor to a shop and found the right bolt and gave it back when i was done.

But if u think thats bad, i had back rotors with no screw threading, had to just bang it out which is a good second option but takes more time, more messy and more energy. Just take a hammer, brick, something hard and bang on every corner of the rotor, sides outside, between the screws in the middle, soon, it will loosen up from the dirt and rust and you'll be ready to go

Once you have the wheel and brake caliper off, the rotor should just pull right off. If it doesnt, then rust is the only thing that could possibly be holding it on. The best way to get it off is to take a hammer to it. Start off hitting it lightly, if it still doesnt come off then hit it harder and harder until it comes off. Light hammering shouldn't damage the rotor (if you plan on using it again, and I am assuming you are changing your brakes), but if you do wind up damaging it, you can buy a new one at Autozon, Pepboys or wherever for 20 bucks each.

If you are tossing the old rotors, just smack them with a hammer. That's what I did. I actually had to hit it rather forcefully.

u shouldnt have to take off your rotors unless you are replacing them or doing some axle work which i dont even think involves taking off rotor, so i assume u r changing your rotors so u can abuse the sh*t ouf of 'em.

i just did them like a week ago..on the back i took the whole hub of and i just knocked the hub out of the rother, on the front you can do the same but what i did was just knocked the rotor out by striking it with a hammer from the back and knocked it loose

You should always have the rotors turned when changing pads.
If you feel they dont need turning you should at least lightly sand the rotors.

Thanks everyone for the quick response!

I just finished replacing my stock front rotors that had 104k on 'em.

All it took was a slege hammer and two precision hits
