1999 Maxima factory security???? HELP!!!!

i just got a 99 maxima GxE
It has factory security somehow i dont know how it works but for some reason I did something 2 the door lock and hit the signal i guess it armed the car or something.
when i got back and unlocked the car the car alarm went off and i didnt know what to do. but after about 2 minutes it turned off and the car was back to normal
does anyone know how 2 set the alarms in a 99 maxima GXe and how to turn that damn thing off
thank you

Take the stock alarm out.....It doesn't work for ****. My maxima got jacked from where I work and the alarm didn't make a sound. Broken window, open the door, poped the ignition and still the alarm didnt even make a peep.

Throw your stock alarm out and buy a decent one.

You really should invest in an aftermarket alarm for your car. Especially if you plan on mods or extras like sounds or tv's.

Many 99's came with what is known as NVIS. With it, there is little short of a flatbed truck or well-equipped computer genius which will forcibly move your intact car. However--

I keep plenty of goodies in the whip, and there are enough haters where I live to make my Viper Responder worth every penny. Little teenage idiots- they break in as if my car is an easy target- then they find out, too late, that it's not. A club may actually be the best defense you have. While my car is impossible for the average teenage punk to steal, plenty have tried and done a great deal of damage doing so. While I could hope that they will wise up and learn that no one who has put any kind of money into a car will leave it unprotected... </rant>

Club on the steering wheel. I'm suggesting it, and my car is fairly well protected by far more effective and sophisticated means.

Yup 99s got the security chipped keys, thats why our spare keys are so damn expensive. Only thing we have to worry about is people vandalizing the car, stealing stuff from inside, but almost no one can steal the car.

Did you unlock the door with the key once it was locked or did you simply unlock from the inside using the door lock lever? If the latter, that will set the alarm off

Is it possible to equip a 98 GLE with a ignition switch that requires a key with a chip?

Probably not since the technology is through the ECU, thats why us 99s are screwed when it comes to ECU stuff. Cant even swap out ECUs, cause the car wouldnt respond to the key.

I have the orignal Body Control Module for sale and the Keyless entry box located in the trunk. If you think or know one of them is broken i can sell you what you want.
