How much can our Max tow? do I need a trny cooler?

I looking at all my stuff and there's no way I can fit it in the car...
I looked at prices for U-Haul type rentals and they're like in the $500+ range.

So I'm thinking maybe I'll tack a trailer on the maxima and go...
but... how much can it tow?
Should I even do that?
I mean for safety reasons... (Denver to La on I-70 & I-15) it's the Rocky Mountains I'm trying to cross...

Should I put on a tranny cooler?

anyone with experience towing or driving from denver to LA.. your opinions are welcomed... as is for anybody else on the org.

Check your manual

But why would you want to treat your Max so cruelly?

Renting a u-haul may cause $500...but imagine the severe wear and tear on your vehicle which can exceed $500 easily. Do it right and rent a cargo van or full truck. Remember you will be climing some pretty steep hills, and which will make it far worst as well.

Hardly. May seem moronic in your country, but i's very common where I live. Sedans are often sold on their towing abilities, many want the classiness of a car with great towing abilities. My Maxima was towing a 2300lb load each weekend for two years. It's now in my hands and has 164000miles on the clock and it still runs like new, nothing has needed replacing yet.

Heh, if you think that's bad, what would you say about Golf's and Civic's towing to name a few?

I agree, that $500 towards a u-haul would be put to better use instead of shelling out over $500 for unnecessary wear & tear caused by adding a trailer. Unless you wanna save money, how about having a few friends that have pickups or SUV's help you out on moving? Just my 2 pennies

I put a hitch on my max earlier this year so I could tow a couple motorcycles. It tows 2 bikes on an open-air trailer w/ no problem. I also tried towing a loaded u-haul trailer and that didn't go so hot. The ride was very uncomfortable. The heavy closed top trailer makes the back end jump up and down way too much on even slightly bumpy highways. If you only have stock shocks on your rear wheels I would think twice about it. If you do get a trailer I would recommend getting the lightest trailer available (uhaul does rent open top ones)...and pack some tums.

Some of your response are uncalled for. Read my sticky at the top for future reference.

If he wants to tow a building, it's his car!

DaBombX: Get yourself a tranny cooler because that tranny will get hot. The one I have is overkill because its built for a tow capability of 24000gvw.
