95 max cupholders
95 max cupholders
I read a post on here that said you could switch the console with a 97 to get the better cupholders. i was wondering if anybody had pics of someone changing this. Also can you just replace the cupholder with a 97 version without switching the whole console over.

Most of the dash is just held on by various bolts and snapping clips. Take a look around the console area and see what pops off, but do it carefully, and if you pry on anything without a panel popper, use a butter knife so you don't ruin it. The trim piece around the shifter unsnaps, and just unscrew what you can.
And no, the cupholder is molded in, you can't just replace that one section.

So far as I remember there are only 4 screws holding the center console on. 2 are below the trim piece that goes around your ashtray and shifter. Pop that off by prying it up with a screwdriver just behind the shifter. You'll have to unplug the cigarette lighter to get it completely off. You may have to remove the ashtray too. take the screw to the left of the ashtray out, and pop the left side out by prying with a screwdriver.
The other 2 screws are on the back of the console; one on each side near the very back-bottom corner. They may have small caps on them that you'll have to pop open with a flathead screwdriver before you can see the screw underneath.
After you get those 4 screws out, lift the emergency brake, put the shifter all the way back, and pull the entire console up and back. When putting it back on, make sure to get the front slides placed back into the dash good (you'll see what I mean when you remove it).
It sounds a little complicated, but its really pretty easy.
