over the past several weeks i noticed that sometimes my car would take a long time of cranking before it starts. today for instance, when i was leaving work, it took a good 1.5 to 2 seconds to start. usually it takes about .5 or so sec. to start. today was the longest i had to hold it to start it. is my starter dying? fuel pump? what could it be?

the battery was purchased brand new about 2 months ago. i'm thinking it might be the starter but not sure. so i wanted to see if others here had the same problem.

If its turning over, then the starter is working. Assuming TB was cleaned, air/fuel filters changed, I would research crank and cam position sensors, especially if you get hard starting as well.

if your running close to empty in your tank, that would be a reason.

i have noticed that mine takes awhile to start when my tank is less than 1/8th full. see if thats your problem. I have major evap problems also. my charcoal canister is currently off my car

I would do a fuel filter change and see if that clears it up. Otherwise, I second the camshaft position sensor. I've just noticed a lot of people have troubles with that.
