what causes idle to drop?

Over the last few months my idle has gone from just above 700 rpms and now its at or even below sometimes 600 rpms. What is going on, and what would cause this?

thanks

Clean out the throttle body, replace the PCV valve, air filter, and while you have the air intake off, remove and clean out the IACV.

Then it could be your IACV - this controls your idle speed via two solenoids and a stepper motor. Clean that out (stickies have some more info on how).
