Manual climate Control to Automatic on 95 Maxima
Manual climate Control to Automatic on 95 Maxima
I'm trying to make the conversion from a manual climate control to a automatic climate control. I have gotten the piece that sits in the center console. This piece seems to serve only as a I/O panel to feed some control module that must actually do the switching and such. Is this true? Can anyone give me a detail of how the Auto CC system works within a maxima? The new face unit has 8 conductors, whereas the old manual has circa 20 conductors between all the harnesses. Let me know.
If i need to modify the current wiring harnesses let me know.

from another post on the same topic...
I have been looking at my 97 FSM and considering doing this swap for a long time, and I could be wrong but I don't think you need to replace any of the intake and mode door motors. They should already be electronically controlled.(air recirculation, face/foot vents, etc. depending which buttons you push on the manual control unit) However, besides the actual climate control unit and the various sensors, you would also need what is called the auto amp. This is the actual microcomputer that controls changes in fan speed, air discharge and temperature, ect. after it recevies input from the various sensors(sunload, ambient, in-vehicle). This auto amp. is attached to the BCM, for those who don't know the BCM or Body Control Module is located on the bottom of the center dash infront of the gear shifter. Then of course there is the wiring, and IMO, the easiest thing to do would be to get the main dash harness out of a max that had auto climate control. Even with all this info I have gathered it is still a very involved and probably espensive swap that most would say is not worth the effort.
