Help installing JWT ECU
I received my JWT ECU today. I removed the two 10mm bolts securing the ECU bracket to the car. I was able to swing the ECU bracket to the driver's side to remove the 4 philips screws and swap the ECU. The problem I'm having right now is reinserting the metal tab on the front of the ECU bracket into the slot it came out of. Everything looks to be lined up however I cannot seem to get it to slide in. Because of this I cannot line up the holes to thread the 10mm bolts; its about 1/2 in. off. The adjacent harnesses are not in the way. Is there something I'm missing here?
I've been patiently trying to insert the damn thing in the slot for the past hour. I've tried finessing it in to using brute force (as much as my injured shoulder will allow) to no avail.
Is there a "special way" to insert the metal tab back into the slot? It was a b!tch to get the ECU bracket out now its downright impossible for me to get it back in. Please
!!!!!!!

don't even worry about it. i slid the tab in, and only got 1 bolt in the first time...the next time i had it out/back in, i just threw it in there unmounted and let it be. no problems in almost a year.

Yep, good luck ever getting the ECU back in exactly like it was before. I just have mine wedged in there enough to get the side plastic covers back on. Been like that forever and no problems.
Same here... I went in through the passenger side and got it in perfectly. However I only was able to put back 2 of the 4 screws that hold the ECU to the metal bracket. No biggie though.

I tried a couple of more hours yesterday to fit it back in and gave up. I had a hard time from the passenger side because of the huge ECU connector being in the way and I dont want to move it around too much. I think I'm going to the Stealership on Monday to have them do it, or using JB weld to hold the the bracket to the floorboard. It's annoying to feel the ECU move as my wide feet brushes against the plastic ECU panel
.
Plus I'm worried about vibrations/movements since the ECU wires will be tapped for MEVI/shift light, some gauges, and possibly a fuel controller like SAFC II. Before the swap everything was rigidly mounted including the harnesses. Since the ECU moves around so does the harnesses. Unless of course I'm just being paranoid and there isn't really anything to worry about?

LAZY !

I'm the same way. I just pushed that thing in there from the driver's side. It stays in there without much movement.
If you were wanting to get that thing in there properly, you might want to cut the zip ties that hold that top plate. That makes it's easier to get the ecu to free move in that tight spot. Good luck!
