Replace it. You lose alot of HP if it goes bad, You don't need to replace right away. Just that your power isn't all going to be there until it's replaced.

I just got mine replaced....OMG it was out for like 3 months....WHAT A DIFFERENCE.....definately get this done ASAP and make it top priority even though it isn't really "bad" for the engine but once you have it back in you will be amazed....at least I was.

hmm, my mechanic said that when u get a knock sensor error code, it doesn't mean that the knock sensor is busted. It means that the knock sensor is sensing "engine vibration". That's all. He said that during his 10 years of experience, he's only seen a knock sensor replaced once (and that was for like flood damage or somethin). The engine vibration could be because it needs a tune up, something isn't mounted correctly/has gotten out of wack, etc.

exactly. when you get a ks code, it means that the ks is just sensing a problem. replacing the ks is a waste of money because it wont make the problem in the engine dissapear...

well i don't know about that...i got the silent 0304 and I replaced and havent had it back....car preforms great....when you get that silent code it means that the sensor is dead...it just stop sending volts to the ignition timing and ECU

Mine just went out. I have 167 miles. Never got the code before. Now it keeps coming back everytime I reset it. And YES, you can really feel the lack of power between 2 and 3 thousand RPMs

At least on an automatic.

aight. so what's the verdict here? can someone with experience and knowledge give a solid explanation? That would really really help here.

Knock Sensor detects "knock"/"pinging" due to low octane or other similar factors...

When it does, the ECM retards the timing by "X" degrees for a certain length of time... you lose power and gas mileage...

No one here can determine if YOUR knock sensor is bad.... you decide.

I might have to agree with you MaxxAddict. After I took off my stock manifold and put on the VI, the ghost code appeared. I must of knocked something lose.
