Turbo Vs. Supercharger
Turbo Vs. Supercharger
Hello all I searched for about 15 min for a thread on this but no luck... Anyways, I have a 96 maxima, 89,000 miles, and selling it.. for $6,500... I am really thinkin of supercharging it, or goin Turbo and sell for more.. What are your opinions... I am selling so that I can get my 2004 GSXR 750.. I know selling a max is a sin and all, but I have 2 of them.... My wife has one also, and well i will get another max, later on before winter... or if i should just sell outright as is with no turbo or supercharger.. Also is 6,500 too much for it.. It is all black and well i just had it painted.. rollin on stock steel wheels.. and lowered 2.75 inches.. Also straight-pipe, and cold air intake !!! Open for opinions..
Thanx all,
Chris
Thanx all,

i wouldnt pay more than 6k for a 96 max with descent mileage but u have a few add ons so i guess it depends on person. I think you'll get more money worth if u keep it stock rather than SC/turbo. A lot of people are scared of it and would probably take it as a side car but not their primary. For SC u have 2 options: V1 stillen which is reall loud and not made anymore. the V2 (second version) is quieter, and boosts faster. with turbo u have more options.
It all depends... Superchargers for our cars have always been MUCH MUCH more reliable and easier on our engines. Reason being they're built for our cars and tuning isnt too bad. Turbo charging your going to get alot more power... the problem is you have to tune that sucker all the time. Since everything is going to be basically custom every little thing you change or do to your car your going to have to tune it... If you've got about $3000 - $4000 for a Stillen supercharger + AFC, and other goodies or atleast $5000 plus for a turbo and alot of time tuning then go for it. so to reitirate... its all in the tuning.
And by the way, your car wont sell for more if you boost it. THeres a very limited market for your car that way. Lets say your selling it for $6500 right now... which isnt too bad of a price. Tack on $4000 for mods, your talking about $10,500 just to break even... its going to be pretty hard to find someone thats going to buy a Max at that price, even if it is boosted. Good luck with the bike though
