5th Gen shift **** fit 4th gen (auto)

i made a post about this a few months back but did not get any responses (and if i did, i can't search because it wont let me for some odd reason)

Just want to know if an auto 5th gen shift **** will fit into a 4th gen...and if anyone has done this, any custom work or direct fit? responses would be great.

I dont know of anyone who has done it.

But, I've got to think that it's nearly a direct fit.

doesn't work!

i tried it cuz i got one cheap on ebay. i modified the heck out of it so the button would connect to the thing that moves down so you can changed the gears, and then i realized that the head of the 5th gen shift **** is too shallow and won't work.

i would have loved to have it fit because they look good, but unfortunately it won't fit.

you're still more than welcome to try and hopefully you can figure it out, but i don't think it's easily done at all because i tried for hours to modify it and still no luck.
