Anyone ever Tried tuning with SAFC

Anyone in here ever tried tuning with SAFC ?

SAFC doesn't to too much on NA cars. don't waste ur $$ on that before ur basic bolt-ons.

my guess is ghost 0304 CEL on ur car...u mite wanna check the spec of the voltage on ur current knock sensor.

After you connect to a computer, it should be fairly easy. Since you have 99, first you would have to find a ECU wireing driagram, even if you bougt SAFC.

Tuning with the s-afc netted me .2 in the 1/4 mile n/a.

I have it for nitrous but it has 2 settings so I tuned it with the wideband.

Funny part is the settings for n/a are much more radical than the nitrous ones. They range from -6 to -11 where the nitrous ones a 0 to +3.

I have my rpm as follows: 4k-6.2k in 200 rpm increments for a total of 12 set points.

N/A settings from 4k up as follows: -11, -11, -11, -7, -6, -7, -7, -10, -10, -7, -6, -6

Nitrous is: +3, +3, +3, +2, +2, +2, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0

Wow getting over me head. Anyone like to offer a quick explanation as to how some of these number work for those who are aspiring tuners?!

Those numbers are the amount in % of fuel that is added or taken away (+ or -) by changing the signal going from the MAF to the ECU at each indicated RPM.

The rpm point can be set at whatever you like as long as the increment is at least 200. My car gets to 4k real fast in 1st and never goes below again so I started there. It is totally configurable.

You need a wideband to tell you what the a/f is throughout the rpm band so you know if you have to add or take away fuel. Then its just a simple matter of changing the settings and check the a/f again until you get the readings as close as you can to your desired setting.

Do i have to get a wide band? can i dyno tune? also is 13:1 ideal for NA?

You have to have access to a wideband either at a dyno or otherwise.

I tune to 13.2 for n/a and 11.8-12.0 for nitrous. I prefer to do the wideband on the strip because a dyno does not load the engine the same.
