Has anybody had success adding subs to BOSE system?
"2) I'm happy with the Bose system, but just want to add a sub. Is this possible?
Yes, you have to make sure you have a sub amp (or converter) that can take speaker level inputs. Tap the amp into the rear speakers between the speaker and the amp. However, once again you'll be getting the "after Equalization" sound, so the signal will not be accurate."
says the FAQs. I have mixed feelings on this. First it says that I can add the subs which I REALLY want to do, and second it says the signal "will not be accurate" which makes me sad. Has anybody done it? Good results? What does "not accurate" mean??
I am hearing a faint rattle from the front (maybe back) right speaker... first of all, what is that? It only happens when I turn the Bass all the way up and am listening to heavy beats. It doesn't happen in my other Maximas. What I am hoping to do is install some fairly nice subs and a nice amp to power them to replace or boost the low-end frequencies of the BOSE system. (I wonder why I feel such an urge to capitalize all the letters in BOSE)
Okay then... this would be my first install (I might end up buying from Quality Auto Sound here in Denver and having them do the install for a $1... but either way I am a novice to this type of thing. Would the Level of Bass from the woofers still be adjusted through the BOSE deck? Or through the amp or what? Also if the subs' bass is independtly controlled would it be wise to turn the other speakers' bass level all the way down? midway?
Thanks for any and all advice.

hey i just got mine installed the other day with the stock bose system and it sounds amazing. You can control the bass level through the amp or the bass control on the headunit. You do need a line out converter but besides that everything else should be the same as any other install. Hope i helped hit me up with a pm if u have any other questions
97maxx i want to do the same thing but u said u did it without the linespeaker? then how did u do it i am curious because i have an amp an a punch dvc in my trunk waiting to get hooked up and i dont feel like changing the head unit. ne help will do
just tap the rear speaker wires and convert into rca plugs, plug the rca's into the amp. if you are really afraid of screwing up your rear speakers, you can buy a bass-blocker to filter out the low frequencies going into the speakers. you can get the bass blockers from an audiostore for like 20 dollars...

Will the subs do a thorough job of bass production? I mean, if I have the subs is there no reason to also have the back speakers doing some of the work at producing the low-level frequencies?
I have an aftermarket deck, Stock Bose speakers inside and 2 10" subs in the trunk. All you need to keep your bose system speakers inside with an aftermarket deck is buy a special adapter plug you can buy for cheap at your local sound audio joint. they will know which one u need. As for keeping your stock deck and putting in subs, i cant tell you that. only advice i can give to that is to rip it out and buy a nice shiny kicka$$ aftermarket head unit.
