? about the air scoop leading to airbox

I am soon going to be ghettoo replacing the stokc box with a k&n filter via the brianv method. This air scoop that goes from the opening of the hood and branches off to two pipes into the engine bay. I really want to just get rid of it, but I wanted to make sure it wouldn't create any problems. Should the air scoop and the two pipes it branches off to lift out completely? Thanks for the replies.

I modified mine and as far as I can tell, You probably don't need the thing, however, it does support a few wires or hoses and you'd have to find a way to support those with relatively the same amount of slack if you took out the scoop. I attached black PVC piping to the bottom of the scoop and routed it under my stillen intake. It takes air from under the engine when the cars moving and feeds it right under the pop charger. Works nicely. good luck,
