i got a question i got a 95 max GXE and it never use to idle this low it use to idle good but its been at like 200 lately or around there. and when its in park and i rev alittle over 1200 it will like die or try to. do you think i should just try gettin new plugs and wires and see what happens from there. also one time after i raced a few months ago every now and then my car will kinda die out of nowhere. you think its just cause of the sensors and stuff from racing. cause it died later that night on my way home from pullin out of a parking lot then use to die alot and would do it out of nowhere sometimes but it hasnt been lately. any idea what could have caused that. the same thing is goin on wiht my friends car but she doesnt race or anything.

 

do you have a check engine light? My 96 gxe developed the same problem recently along with a CEL for the Idle Air Control Valve. I removed and cleaned the valve and adjusted the idle control screw (little black screw on top of the IAC valve, not the screw on the Throttle Body) and the low idle problem is gone. The CEL is still on though.

get some carb cleaner, and spray it all over the iacv
itll be all good after that

 

If you messed with the ECU you need to return the screw back to its starting position.

If you have a CEL have it checked out.
