I'm not trying to be a smart azz, and I'm not speaking on behalf of maxima.org - it's just "me" speaking. I'm more than willing to try and help folks out here (otherwise I wouldn't be a mod/admin), but when I see people speaking in ghetto/net-speak (wut/wat, ne1, nebody) it just kills any motivation I have to help since it's annoying and just makes you look unintelligent IMHO.

As for your issue, there's disagreement on this here, but MY TAKE is that the knock sensor code is INDEPENDENT of all other codes and other problems do not cause the KS code to trip. The thing is, the KS code does NOT light the CEL. So when your CEL lights up with a real problem, you see the KS code in there also and that's usually the first time people notice it. So they think their "whatever" code also caused the KS code when it was probably there for awhile already. You'll get the KS code while the KS is flakey but still operational. It can take awhile (a few months) for it to go completely bad.

KS's sometimes are triggered by other sensors such as O2's and so forth. (That has come from several mechanics)

Have the others checked and changed then check KS. KS will not trip the CEL on its own. It is possible it could be bad but its possible it may not be.
BTW dont let your "BOY" search with his computer. Go O"Rielly's or AutoZone and get it checked for free.

Im willing to bet its the rear o2 sensor or the circuit not working right....Check the curcuit then check the sensor itself because it's been known for the curcuit to go first often....Replace it and see if it takes the KS code away....if it doesn't then clean the o2 up sensor up and return it
