WTF! Maxine is pinging?

Lately Maxine has *I think* been pinging. There is a very light tick tick tick (its not the sound of the fuel injectors) There is a tick about 2-3times a second just to give you an idea of how it sounds. ONLY 93 and treat the car like gold. Only 50k miles too. The dealer said to me that Maxima's just ping. There is nothing wrong with her . Nevertheless, she has been running like a champ and still flies. Any thoughts people?

Pingnig is frequently caused by a bad coil. It wouild be faster though - more than 2-3/second. How frequent or severe does this happen?

yet again, the dealerships are wrong.

Does the tick vary with engine speed? Could be a belt or something. The sound you're describing really doesn't sound like pinging (as in detonation) to me though so it's probably something else.

Yes, it changes with engine speed. I hear about every few days. It is not very severe, its not like a loud rapping or anything. In fact I only hear it at idle and when going up to about 10 miles an hour. hmmm, maybe it is a belt or something
