my max failed inspection-help

I brought her in yesterday and the comp brought up 3 codes that i need to fix, P0100 (0102), P0325 (0304), and P0153 (0414). I found out that they mean my mass air flow sensor, knock sensor, and the last one was undefined. Does anyone know what I can do to fix these on my own???

Maf

Could be a couple of things causing it, but best bet is to take out the MAF and clean the filament with alcohol, then hook it back up and make sure all the plugs are nice and tight... Not sure about the KS... Didn't know that would affect an emissions check...

Good luck

Throwing any codes will fail you in some states...

with the new OBDII emissions testing, if you have a CEL on at all, it will fail.

The 0304 code is usually a ghost code that comes up with another code as is most likely NOT the problem. My guess is your knock sensor is fine but the other code is an 02 sensor that is bad. Also clean the filament on your maf

Either way reset your ECU to see if the codes come back.

It is right under the intake plenum, in the middle and on top of the engine. If you look under the intake plenum from the driver's side you will see a black plastic part that has a wire going to it. This is the KS. It is supposed to detect engine knocking and retard the timing to avoid damage to the engine.

My car failed the inspection too, not because of emissions, but because my computer keeps saying that some monitors are not ready (the limit is 2 and 3 of them say NOT READY). I have no codes at all. Will tacke this issue next week.

Good luck with your next inspection.

Take it to the dealer. KS will be triggered by other Sensors blah blah..

Good luck
