Whats the word on Courtesy Nissan STS ?

Well, I drove a few miles yesterday with the hazards flashing and reving along at 30 mph to the nissan shop. Turns out my stock shifter is trashed and all busted up.

i hear the courtesy nissan sts is identical to the b&m short throw shifter. Anyone tried this one out yet ?

Im thinking about getting this one if its not junk !

Caesar...I went to Courtesy myself and checked it out a couple months ago.
You can see my review in this post:
Here it is ---> http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=318599

Only thing is that you can get the B&M for just about the SAME price shipped. Courtesy will not budge on their price.

(I also HIGHLY recommend the B&M design, whether you go B&M or Courtesy)

The B&M is a great shifter. At first it was kinda hard to drive with it, and, but a month later it got really soft and now it feels very good.
If you can get the B&M for Cheaper go for it. Its a great quality product

Hell yeah that sounds good man...let us know how the install goes. Remember on my other link I posted the instructions for the B&M off their website. All parts in the Courtesy sts resemble the B&M's.

that was a good link and i gave it a bump, lol ! mechanic in town says he will have to take off exhaust but it doesnt look like thats the case, the crazy thing is that my shift rod or support rod (forget what he called) it is broke which i hear is hard to do, lol ! so maybe thats why they might say the exhaust has to come out.

I think you just have to take off the cat for a STS install IIRC. I think the stillen comes with a new support rod(?) but the b&m and courtesy does not so you may have to get a new oem one as well.

The fuel filter is easy as well, just have to get the stupid lines off the old filter besides that it is a piece of cake.

I sent my B&M back after two days of use. The throws are so short that it lacks any feel as to where the gear is plus the setup is notchy as hell. You really have to man-handle to thing to run the gears. Also, the shift pattern is moved up ~2" which made it uncomfortable for me to shift. No longer could I rest my elbow on the console and shift. I actually had to lean over for 1st, 3rd, and 5th. The heavy/notchy feel of shifter didn't match the light feel of 4th gen controls either. The ultra short lever also looked pretty stupid. If the console was higher it would look fine, but in a low FWD console, it looks downright silly.

I wouldn't recommend this shifter to anyone, especially an avid drag racer. Knowing exactly where the gears are is extremely important and this STS removes all faith that you're in the gear.

You DON'T have to remove any exhaust components except for the heatshield to change the shifter. Just work around them. Also, I would recommend getting a used stillen short shifter if you can find one. The spacing feels great in gears 1-4 (5th is kinda out there), and it comes with the whole shifter assembly, so its easier to install, and feels much more solid.

FYI - ANY short throw shifter for the Maxima gives you the same feeling. Whether it is aftermarket or Redneck-rigged by shortening the OEM shifter.

Weird I don't have that problem.
You really have to man-handle to thing to run the gears.
I shift with 2 fingers most of the time, maybe it's time for you to change your MT fluid?
Also, the shift pattern is moved up ~2" which made it uncomfortable for me to shift.
This is definitely true...I remember my review a while back, the pics definitely show this.

I dunno...I'm 6'even and don't have this problem.
The heavy/notchy feel of shifter didn't match the light feel of 4th gen controls either.
The light and dare I say 'NUMB' feel of the OEM shifter were enough for me to get the B&M.
The ultra short lever also looked pretty stupid. If the console was higher it would look fine, but in a low FWD console, it looks downright silly.
Matter of choice I suppose. I love the clean look of a shorter shifter over the tall look of the OEM.

I wouldn't recommend a Maxima to the avid drag racer either.
