Rear Speaker Removal 1997 SE w/ Bose

Rear Speaker Removal 1997 SE w/ Bose

I was going to remove my rear Bose speakers on my 97 SE and assumed the screws would be removed from inside the trunk. The screw threads show in the trunk indicating the screws come in from the top. I tried to remove the grills and just the screen portion of the grills to no avail.
How do you remove these? Do I need to remove the entire rear deck?

Rear deck removal?...yes.
Just be careful with the clips that hold the deck on. Good link KC.

the screws are screwed in from the top, but the speaker grills and carpeted panel are attached to each other and myst be removed as a whole before you can remove the speakers. You must also first remove the back seat, here is a link with some pretty good pitures and easy to follow directions:
