trouble taking apart intake to clean TB

I have a 99 GLE and am trying to clean my throttle body ever since I did the mod where you just stick on a cone filter onto the adaptor piece. The instructions on cleaning the throttle body start with disconnecting the ACT (air charge temperature). Is that the 2 metal bars with the rubber tubing pulled over it? Should I remove the rubber tubing off the two bars? This is the only thing holding me back from removing it and also the first in the instructions. Help.

Also, the instructions in making the intake was to put duct tape around the edges of the gold colored adaptor and the intake adaptor to prevent air leaks. I did this with electrical tape and it seems to be fine, but just to be on the safe side, what are some signs that point direction to an air leak? Thanks.

just spray in the TB cleaner between the throttle body and the MAF, dont spray it so it flows through the MAF you will mess it up.. You dont need to take everything apart to do that just open it a little and stick in the little tube that the can of TB brings but make sure ur holding on to it..

You dont want that peice of plastic flying into your engine.

you can leave the TB on the car, just take off the intake piping then spray the butterfly valve, it takes alot of towel to wipe up the black mess.

i do understand you take off the intake piping up to the TB, its the fact that the instructions say to take off an ACT valve first. its the instructions on http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/517

if there are easier instructions please let me know.. im so confused.

ACT (air charge temperature sensor)

Thats the sensor plugged into your intake.. The little one after the MAF.

See the arrow, thats the harness connector for it.. Just unplug it to take off the intake.

You dont HAVE to take it off just to spray into the TB.. But if you want to get in there and clean the butterfly valve you probably do.
