As you may recall I posted about a rust problem delevoping in the front engine support mount area. Well the autobody looked at it and said simply that it needed to be replaced and can't be patched up or anything welded around it. So East coast nissan in NJ printed out sections of the front radiator support, and just ordered the lower part piece being probably the biggest piece. I know theres no rust in any other spot of the car except that part. So I know for a fact they can weld in the new piece and fix it up. Now they also pointed to me that my REAR engine mount is blown and gone!. UGH! My head just started to pound! I got a price from TOM, he said $850-890. I can't really recall the real price but thats the price he said to do the mount and front support. The other guy who looked at my car said he will do it for $40 bucks an hour and usually works on Jags (Expensive cars) and Always does a great job he said he has to take apart the frontend of the car and he will glue back my stillen lip (which is good because its falling off on one side). Now my questions: Due to the fact that the rear mount is broken are the 2 side mounts on the fenders good? What will be a good price range for doing this kind of job and putting everything back together correct? My rust issue isnt that bad but im worried about the rear mount now and I start college on the 30th, Im worried to drive my car and the "engine fall out". Has anyone else experienced anything like this?! please provide me with some info because my head really hurts thinking about the bill.
If a mount is bad, I believe that means the rubber stuff is bad, not that the mount will break and stop supporting the engine. I am not positive on that but I am pretty sure that is right.
BTW you should screw hte lip in place.
