catback exhaust

hey guys, im planning on getting a catback exhaust within the next two weeks... and ive narrowed it down to two. the greddy sp2 (http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...tegoryID=42215) or the obx type-h (http://www.speedstash.com/obx_type_h.html) i am planning on adding a y-pipe once i get the money for that. i want my exhaust to be loud when i push it, but not too loud when im just cruising around. is the greddy really worth the extra 150-200 dollars?

People have said that they love the newer Greddy Sp2, deep and throaty, while the obx type H has been highly recommended as well. Obx type H will need little mod to get it to fit correctly (hangers, i believe) but overall i would go for the greddy.

I just got my GReddy for like $488 shipped and to me its worth it, but then again I never really heard any other cat-backs on a Maxima before so I just bought it but its not loud at all so if thats what your looking for dont get it because its only a slight drone at 2k-3500 RPM's and after that its all engine noise. But that is also what I was looking for.

Yeah right, it's an OBX. How can it be quiet?
BOMT697, if you smoked a guy, the greddy had nothing to do with it.

i have the obx-h. i've never had the greddy so i can't compare.... but if money is an issue, the obx is quite a deal. i paid 265 shipped for mine, it's stainless steel, and it sounds good. a lil loud under load up until 3k. fitment isn't perfect either, part of the b pipe hangs a little low, but for the price i paid, i'm happy.

Yea, that extra 2 hp must've felt like a freakin rocket when you shot pass him.

i've always wanted to go with an apexi ws, but im not sure of the fitment issues it would have w/a 97.

i need to keep y-pipe stock. apexi ws appears to be only for 1995 - 96.

do you folks know another quiet exhaust in the market?

Here it goes again. It's one inch shorter, meaning you will be burning your bumper unless you make it longer by an inch or so. You will also need to put an O2 sensor bung in the b-pipe right after the cat since the 95-96 max has them in the CAT.

woo, im diggin up an old thread! didnt want to start a new one soo. But i want to get exhaust after winter. How does the SP2 sound with a y pipe. My mom has the Greddy Evo and it sounds good. Its very quiet past 3k. I want mine a little more throaty then hers. I dont want to hear it 5 miles away but i want to hear it. Would the SP2 with a y pipe sound good? does anyone have videos.

i have greddy sp2 for few months now...i've put about 15,000k on it already. it was sorta quiet in the first 1,000mi, but after it breaks in it's really deep. above 3,000rpm it becomes really loud, but not ricy.

compare to my old custom catback w/ magnaflow SS muffler, it sounds so much better.

Happy, your b-pipe is hanging too low. It's supposed to be tucked into the tunnel like the stocker.
