Help - Starter over-cranking after car starts

I have a 99 GXE.

When we start the car, it starts up without a hitch -- except the starter keeps cranking for 5 seconds or so even after the car is up an running. It is noticeable and I have never run across this issue with any other car.

Any thoughts or ideas as to what might be occurring? And, is this something I can fix on my own? Also, is this something that needs to be fixed or do I have an option to just let it ride?

Thanks.

Thanks, Maximus.

Small assist. Where is the ignition switch? Can I change this out easily myself? And, how/where would I go about lubing it?

Thanks.

where you insert the key thats it

you can do it yorself buy a bottle with a needle type dispenser and fill it up with lithium grease and insert it through the key hole be careful not to break that needle type thing inside also work wonders on locks
