Looks good....i see you still have alot of work to be done in the engine bay. The vacuum line for the VIM, radiator hose, etc... is not even hooked up yet. Did you upgrade the clutch before putting the tranny back in?

Hope it starts right up!!!!!

s0ber, i was just messing around with people. being sarcastic for the fun of it. i did the complete 3.5 swap with the 6 speed.

EZEMaxima, yeah alot more stuff needs to be done but not as much cause i ot alot done today. all the stuff that you said above i did today. and i fanylly got into the car and sat on the floor and checked if all the gears go in. it feels so good to finally be able to shift my max by myself even though it isn't running yet. but i hope it just fires up or then it would be a pian to try to find the problem.
thanks you geverybody for being so supportive during this whole time.

this is the type of project i would easily love to donate money into. I wish u was even remotely close to NJ, i would shake your hand and take u out to lunch for such a break through. I say this without hesitation, successful or not (seems that it will very well be successful), you are the man for having the testicular fortitude to man up to this job.

I know i'm asking too early but so far how much 'custom' work has been done putting this bad boy in? engine alone that is....

well today i put the car on its wheels but i still have to raise back up to adjust my camber bolts. but maybe it is me or the car defintly sits lower in the front. plus i looked at some old pics and i definatly could tell that it sits lower. now it looks like it is riding on tein s-techs but i have H&R. now i dont nned to get different springs cause i am low enough to the ground. and plus i put my unpainted front lip on and looks like i am going to scrape it if i am not careful. i like it alot. now i am thinking of what to do about the intake. i have a choice of putting the 5th gen box in or getting a cai. but i donw want my car to sound loud. what you guys think? plus i dont feel like spending extra cash on a intake when i need shocks and tires and tint. modding is addictive. i lok at my car and there is so much stuff that i could do to it. everybody feel the same way about their max or is that me also?

Amazing work your doing with the 5th Gen, into the 4th. I know you've heard it a lot but I'll just say it anyway, your abig man to take on such and job and its good to hear its going successful. Like the rest I can wait to see more pics, and track numbers.

if you may need new shocks and struts, then stick with the 5th gen air box (if you can pick it up cheap somewhere) and focus your money on getting the car off the groung so you dont scrap up your new lip.

I know I definately feel the same way you do about modding, I just wish my car would stop having problems so I can get to modding!

Why are there so many jealous fools in here? anyway, your undertaking is pretty interesting and really damn cool. i bet you cant wait for the day to have it start up and take a ride around the neighborhood. like another poster said, take that baby in for an oil change at nissan just to gauge their reaction, then leave w/o getting it done (for fear that it would be done improperly anyway).

how about a write up? could be interesting... Did you use stock engine mount points? What about the wiring and the axles?

Nice stuff man.

yeah i will do that. go down to nissan and just see the reaction on their faces but wont get a oil change, it will probably be difficult to explain to them hat i have done to my car.

the engine mount is stock but the tranny mount is from the 6 speed but instead of being welded onto the body, it bolts on. axles are from the 5.5 maximas with the hubs and the abs sensors also.

i cant wait to drive it around my neighborhood but patience is a virtue.

So you used 5.5 knucles with axles, along with brakes? And I don't get the whole tranny mount thing. Do you mean it bolts into the unibody basicly?

yeah I know how it gets when you are about finish something like that, you want to take it out for a spin. Usually I just start going crazy and trying to finish everything in a hurry, lol.

yeah i used hubs and axles and brakes from the 5.5 gen. and the mount on the tranny on the 6 speed maxima bolts onto the unibody with 4 big huge bolts instead of being welded on. and i cant hurry myself to finish cause them i might miss something and plus school started so i dont have that much time to work on it but it needs a little bit more work. wiring is all that needs to be done for the doors, lights, and my deck and seats. and need a intake but confused on which to get frankencar or weapon r but i need a short ram so i can use the airbox muffler cause i dont want my car to be loud.

If you use the 5 speed the swap will be alot easier and the car will be faster. Thtas what i would do

Also vsamoylov its to late now but ive seen this done for instance you would have left the 96 ecu in to control most of the previous things in your car ,then you would use the 02 ecu to control just the motor . Ive seen this done and it works.

where did you see that at? and how can a 00 ecu control a vq35? and the wiring between 00 and 96 is different also. for exapmle, 96 has a bcm and a 00 maxima doesnt. and using a 5 speed would not make my car that faster. the gains would be so minimal. read your quote man. "you would have left the 96 ecu in to control most of the previous things in your car ,then you would use the 00 ecu to control just the motor " undefined doesnt make sense at all. show me proof ad explain but this is

I meant the 02 ECU. And for a example of this look in the sept issue of SCC and the mini cooper is running a mini ECU to run the other stuff other than engine and a integra type R ECU to run the engine.

And you need to relax and calm down and i was just trying to help people who are thinking of doing this if the 6 speed is not neccessary than it would be easier to swap for people. And i assumed that you were doing this to go faster and the 5 speed would be a better choice then
