AHH this is sooo cool! I want to see more pics and videos. If you want a 5 gen stock intake my dad has one i think he would probably sell you. Took a lot of ***** to do this. I give you props! Did you do a complete 3.5 engine/ 6speed tranny swap? Where did you get the engine and tranny from? How much was the project all together if you dont mind me asking?

And i am still telling you that the gains from the 5 speed are going to be minimal. probably so minimal that you wont be able to tell unless you go to the track. and when you said 02 ecu, it makes sense but it would be easier to replace the wires then have to combine 2 harneses into 1.

i dont ned the 5th gen intake box cause i just ordered a frankencar intake in black with apexi filter.

And the latest update as of last night is my brother and I got the car started
vq35 swap is in the almost done. will try to finish it asap cause i need a car. tired of driving moms i30.lol.

Wow, incredible work! Im really impressed! I live in Sunnyvale CA (by mountain view), so when you finish the job it would be awsome if i could check it out. This must have taken up your whole summer... Well anyways, if you want, email me at artovs@yahoo.com and we will meet up because that is too cool to miss.

Quote: I meant the 02 ECU. And for a example of this look in the sept issue of SCC and the mini cooper is running a mini ECU to run the other stuff other than engine and a integra type R ECU to run the engine.

And you need to relax and calm down and i was just trying to help people who are thinking of doing this if the 6 speed is not neccessary than it would be easier to swap for people. And i assumed that you were doing this to go faster and the 5 speed would be a better choice then
Dude you really don't make sense. As far as I understand those minis where carburated and they didn't even use ECUs. And btw like the only things that ecu really controls is motor, tranny (not really but yeah), gauge cluster. That's ****en it. You really don't make sence, and when I read that SCC **** I don't think I seen anything about using a mini ecu.

My guess is that he just ripped out the stock wiring harness (engine bay, and from the inside) and replaced it with a vq35 one, due to the slight differences between early obdII and later model obdIIb (or some **** like that, I don't remember what they call it). Also he needed something to control the variable intake matifold, so that ecu takes care of it.

I think what could be done (maybe in the future) as long as most of the engine sensors/injectors/and other BS plugs are the same as 4th gen maxima's you could just use stock harness, and maybe somebody like JWT would be able to chip it for the vq35 fuel and ingnition maps. And control the variable intake matifold with some sort of the rpm switch.
