Cylinder 3 missfire after changing plugs
Cylinder 3 missfire after changing plugs
I just picked up my first Maxima. A 95 GXE 5speed, pretty plain with 85,000 miles. I went through and changed the oil, airfilter and changed back to NGK Platnums. The Previous owner had used Champion Coppers.
When changing the spark plug in cylinder 3 (the middle plug on the back row next to the firewall) I noticed some corrosion in the spark plug tube. The spark plug had a bit of white residue on it as well. All the coil packs looked good.
I don't really like the corrosion aspect in that spark plug well and am wondering if this means anything, like a leaking head gasket?
I'm not smoking out the tailpipe and my oil isn't frothy.
After changing the oil, airfilter and switching back to the NGK platnum plugs (and driving about 600 miles) the CEL came on and here are the codes:
0606 - Cylinder 3 missfire
0304 - Knock Sensor
0103 - Engine Coolant Sensor
Any suggestions on where to start?
Thanks, Mack

Reset the ECU and see if they come back...If your car was running with NO codes, then you changed something out, its most likely the computer gettin used to it...If they do, replace the engine coolant temp sensor, leave the knock sensor and the other code..usually the Knock sensor code is a piggy back code.

Sometimes if your gettin an O2 sensor code that will trip the Knock sensor code as well. I know hes not gettin a O2 sensor code, but it may be related in some way.
Reset the ECU and see what happens
