Hi-flow cat?

hey i was looking into a hi flow cat and im getting it for a good price so i was just wondering if i should do it- i am planning on getting a y-pipe in the next month or so and i already have an exhaust -is it even worth it to get or just a waste of money? does it make more noise or h/p let me know thanks
