5spd tranny question
5spd tranny question
does anybody know if a 5spd out of a ve30 will fit a vq30 courtesy nissan says i can install a 95-99 trans with or without limited slip the only thing i have to do is change over the axles.right now im shopping for a new 5spd transmission but theres nothing out there for replacement.just wanted to see if any other years will fit as well need help
You could get a 95 -2001 without changing anything. Some people change the axles. I'm in the same boat as you but there's a 97 tranny I can get for $600 but I don't want to run the risk of having another tranny problem so I'm looking for a 2000-2001 tranny. Good luck. I believe the ve30 will fit but I would double check. As far as LSD, mostly Canadian Maximas have LSD. American ones with a stock LSD are hard to find. I know that Quaiffe makes a LSD for the maxima. There is a post in the 4th Gen forums about it.

Gear ratios are all the same on the manuals from the 3rd gen VE all the way up to the 5th gen 3.0L, so it's probably pretty much the same manual tranny. I think even the old VG's used the same basic tranny but with a taller final drive to take the lower rev capability into account.
