EGR Valve

EGR Valve
I have a 99 max with 109,000 miles and the Service Engine Soon light came on. I pulled the code and got an 0302 which pointed to the EGR valve. I took advice from a thread from max.org ( I think ) and took the throttle body loose and sprayed fuel injector / throttle body cleaner at the EGR valve ( I think ). The SES light stayed off for a day and is now back on. I am assuming I need to replace it. Is it hard to replace and is there a write up anywhere on how to replace it? I am mechanically inclined, I just do not want to go at it by trial and error. Thanks!

I did the TB cleaning and it kept comin on and going off...I finally took it to the dealer and they charged $120 to clean the small tube and then replace it. Never had the 0302 since but mine is also a 99 with 108000. I would find a pic of the SMALL tube and then find it and clean it yourself cause it is just clogged with carbon....small wire can clean it out.

I had this same code....I had the whole egr system flushed for 90 dollars but it did not solve the problem...I believe the code is obstruction of egr valve flow....today I had the egr valve and tubing, inc. another valve of somekind related to the system, replaced with the egr system from my old engine (which was conveniently still at his shop)...cost me another 200.....he said if the light comes back, I may need to remove and clean/replace the intake system.....there might be an obstruction somewhere there.....Ill just get a CAI if I have to do that.....I am hoping of course that the light does not return! I also had my O2 sensor replaced, so I was thinking that could possibly be triggering the egr code...not sure though....either way.....
