CustomMaxima Headers, CatBack, CatConverter ?'s
im looking at $825 for the headers + Y-pipe from custom maxima, and then the catback exhaust for $625...thats muffler and B-pipe, might throw in the high flow cat converter as well for a hundred bucks....i need some serious help, even if i put all this on like a $2,000 credit card, i STILL cant even have it installed because i have to pay hundreds more!! i heard the custommaxima headers and catback exhaust are good, and i like nothing but the best for my car....so is this really the best out there for a 97 max? and is there somewhere else i can get them cheaper than at custommaxima? and thirdly....does anyone in the nyc area know of a place that can install this stuff without ripping me off?
thanks for any help on any of these questions....

The custommaxima headers are by OBX, and some people say that they are not good. A catback (2 1/4" - 2.5") can be custom made at a good muffler shop for about $200-$300. And dont buy a a high flow cat, the stock one is good enough. Believe me you will be happy with the cattman headers, and a custom-catback. And dont forget to get an intake. If you want top of the line get an Injen CAI or Place Racing CAI. With all of these mods you should see some good gains. About 20-25hp more to the wheels.
Hope that helps.

The equipment you're looking at is "all Cattman". Sorry the headers are not on the current Cattman website, but that will change very soon when our new one goes up in a few days (we'll announce, it will have a bunch of new parts and 24/7 online ordering), and they will be there.
We'd appreciate it enormously if you bought the Cattman headers and catback exhaust directly from us! This is the same combination in the famed Ceasar's Chariot clip - cattman headers and catback video/sound clip
Just call the Cattman order line, 800.759.9920 (open 8-5 MST, M-F).
Even better, we offer a significant discount when you buy the headers and catback exhaust at the same time - retail price is $1395 for both, but purchased together they are $1299.
Our inventory on the headers is so low right now that they're won't be available through our distributors until the next batch arrives in a few weeks.

what do u mean im NA? why do i want to get all this stuff? because i would like more horsepower in my maxima...headers and catback exhaust isnt a crazy request for a max....maybe a little later i will put a used s/c in my max....thats all...the s/c is a maybe....

Even if you open up the exhaust with headers, y pipe, hi flow cat, b pipe and muffler.....you're not gona make it that much more powerful. Yea youre getting the air flow OUT of the motor quicker, but for what? The air flow isnt coming IN the motor any quicker...
If you wana spend all that money on exhaust and only have a maximum of 15hp gain....go ahead. I only worked at the #1 exhaust shop in GA....but what do I know.

well i have a cold air intake already, i keep hearing ill get 20-25 HP gain, and it will be better to have all that stuff done for the supercharger as well....if u know of a better way to get more HP for that money, and in the process prep ureself up for a supercharger, id honestly love to hear it...i probably dont know half as much as u in this matter, so all i did was ask questions....thanks....id like more feedback....dave thought, as well as i that u were just trying to be a smarta$$, but i guess u werent i apologize...but i could use some help/info/tips...right now i have CAI, im getting cattman headers, catback exhaust....thats all i have as far as performance....

If you're 110% sure you're gona go with a supercharger...you still dont even need all that you listed. Are you 5 spd? How many miles are on your car? Do you know about superchargers, pulley sizes, vaccum and boost pressure, maintenance, and costs?
Let's just SAY you are 5spd and you buy a supercharger. Depending on how much boost you want to run, and that's depending on what pulley size you get....your exhaust will make a difference if you ARE boosted and running over 5-6psi. The stock exhaust manifolds are fine for holding that pressure, and even more. The Y pipe and the cat-back comes next. The most basic and I think the most popular is any type of Y pipe (cattman, warpspeed, or budget) with a hi-flow cat OR straight pipe (not a good idea) and the Greddy SP2 cat-back. All of which are 2.5" ID and out-performs stock exhaust setup.
CAI - that's just bringing air in at a stronger velocity, but not increasing air flow persay. You've got to pay to play....modding the motor of Maxima's can easily go over $5000. All the electronics, guages, mevi, time, dyno-tuning...it adds up FAST. Just be ready....

Maximus1997 - since you're automatic.....dont even worry about headers and sh*t now. I think you should get the valve body mod done first to your tranny if you dont plan on doing a 5spd swap. Auto trannies (stock) arent that strong.
I personally wouldn't spend close to $1000 on headers. Totally not worth it. IMO - just get a Y pipe, and cat back....then maybe a 50shot
