I have been having problems starting the car. What happens is that when I turn the key - nothing, no power at all. Lately the problem has been getting worse. After calling AAA, what seems to work is wiggling the battery connections. At first I suspected the factory alarm system and had a new aftermarket one installed. But the problem still occurs and is getting to happen much more frequently? Could it just be a loose battery connection?

I recently brought the car in to the dealership to see if they could locate the problem. They came back with new rear brakes and belts (those are just about due anyway) but also that the starter is binding and needs to be replaced. In addition the airbag light is now blinking!

Help please!

 

the battery cables shouldn't be loose at all, no wiggle. be sure the cables and post are clean and tight. have the battery checked also.

OK, had the battery connections cleaned, reconnected and tightened - the hot side being loose was actually causing the starter to bind (no damage done )

Had all of the belts replaced (only 1 was bad - but what the hell replaced them all) and had the rear brakes done - turns out the rear left brake caliper was frozen at 3/4's - so had to replace that as well.

Also got an oil change as well - everything cost $330, is that a decent price?

I followed the how to on the airbag light and it has consequently stopped blinking - has anyone else done this fix? Have I just deactivated/ignored the fault or did I just reset the system and everything is OK?
