Stupid question about exhaust system

Get ready it's rather dumb.

If I drive the max in the winter, with the entire Y-pipe/B-pipe/etc. performance parts, will it rust (shouldn't, technically, but...).

Your question must be in the form of a question...

Stainless Steel won't rust.

Yea there is no way it will ever rust... maybe over a hell of a long time but the car wont be alive to see it.

lol! But how many of you drive the max in the winter? (It was either a max or a mustang 5.0, I took the max since it's much more original, looks better and doesn't drive like a drunk rhino in the snow but rust is truly my worst enemy. That and those rocks that try to kill you when you're following an obnoxious truck holding you in 2nd gear on the highway)

Once again, SS rusts. Very slowly but it rusts.

DAVE Sz is totally right. SS rusts, but is just more resistant to rust than say aluminized steel.
I would say that even in the worst winters with Aluminized steel, you should get at least 4 or 5 years out of it. That is probably longer than you will keep the car anyway. Trust me, you will either get tired of it or wreck it.

Plus, I mean, even if it does rust....what are you suggesting? to take off the exhaust for the winter and put it back on afterward? ha ha

I say the salt is your worst enemy. You should always clean the car after its snows but it will rust just takes a while.

Advice. If you do decide to go with ss or aluminized tubing. Be sure to coat all the threads on the exhaust with Anti-Seize to prevent the bolts/nuts from rusting together.
