have any other altezza gen 2 owners noticed that dead insects can get in the lenses somehow?...I installed mine a little over a year ago, and i sealed the hell out of them, but recently i noticed a dead moth...or fly or something like that stuck in the bottom of the light? is this a common problem? is there a way to get in there to clean em out?...Im worried that if bugs can get in, water will be next...Should i take them out and reseal?? any other suggestions?

 

lol i jus noticed there was a bug in my gen IIs too... last time i looked... when i get my car back from the shop after a paint job i'm gonna take it out and clean it out... probably can reseal them.... im gonna do the AE mod to the headlights too.... since the headlights need cleaned too... it looks dirty.... not a clear crisp cleaned 97-99 headlight... looks like a 95-96 :-X

 

I fill your pain bro...i had the same problem on mine. Here is what you do to reseal them. Take them off the car of course, turn your oven on 350 and like them sit in there for 8 min....NO more than 10 though..If u get nervous u can cook them at a lower temp for longer time. Take them out and carefully pry them open...Use a flat head if u have to...Once opened, take away all the old sealeant and put down some new fresh windshield sealant....Do them one at a time and apply pressure to them while they dry for alteast 5 mins(suggest you clamp them)...

 

Quick question...which ones leaked....outer tails or inner(on trunk)...or both???

 

Wait a minute.............if it was a bug...there is not leak...it crawled in where the lights go in and turn.....

 

thanks pearlmax96...ill try that...i seem to have a small leak in my right outer...it gets foggy in there once in a while... and the bug is in my left inner...lol...so both lenses...im actually thinking of doing the red clear mod instead of hasseling anymore with the altezzas...what does everyone think?

 

i hear that zero max...im gonna try the angel eye mod after i get my front end painted in the spring...god, its friggen tough to keep that front end looking good on a black max...esp after 125k...

 

when i got my altezzas (used) the prevous owner told me nothing about the bugs. when i got em there were alot of dead bugs on all 4 pieces and one FAT @SS MOTH in one of them. i was so disgusted and angry. the owner should have told me this. i finally got it out by pushing in the back piece and shaking the light till the big moth came out. then i used my air matress blower to get rid of all the small ones. i was very dissapointed with the purchase and i guess i will just buy a new pair in the future.

 

Got tired of my altezza's...Everyone has them..I even saw this early 40's soccer mom with them...So I decided to waste a saturday and here is the outcome.
