How to remove the ECU?
How to remove the ECU?
hey guys...
my check engine light came on the other day and i wanted to run the self diagnosis to see what the problem was and i couldnt find the screw in the ecu!
i've read posts saying that the bracket the screw is on might have broken off and be inside the ecu and was possible to remount it.
i removed the 2 small bolts on the front and back of the ecu (with a 6mm wrench i believe, but dont quote me on that) but the whole unit wont slip out.
What else do i need to do to remove the unit? Anyone have any other suggestions that could help me out?
I'm going to get the CEL codes from an Autozone ODBII scanner so i can hopefully fix those in the mean time, but i'd like to fix this so i can check the codes on my own in the future.
Thanks in advance!

the 99 you cant see the screw you have to use a very small phillips . you dont have to break the break there is aplastic cover over the screw you just have to ull it back or poke a though it
i want to check the codes from my CEL, but the screw inside the ECU is gone. when i use a philips screwdriver to get the codes the screwdriver goes handle deep inside the ECU.
Thats why i'm assuming that the screw is lost inside the ECU.
