tools for changing spark plugs?

I need to install some ngk coppers in my max and i was wondering what tools i would need to do it. I know i need an extension and socket, but i dont know what size socket i need. also, is it an easy job because someone told me that the back ones were tough to get to.

you need an allen wrench to get the vanity cover off the front bank, a philips head screwdriver (if you want to possibly strip them, they are also regular hex heads) that hold down the plug cover deals (coils? is that what the coils are? i dunno what you call them.)

umm.. if you're tall, the back isnt too bad. I'm 6'3" so I have no problem doing it, I'd suggest just standing on a small stool/step, its not so bad that is unbearable or anything.

when pulling out the tops/coils whatever from the rear DONT DROP the damn little screws. yea. i did this, it sucks finding it after, dont do it :P

easiest way is to losen them all the way but leave them in, then just hold them down with your fingers against the piece you're pulling out to prevent any chance of dropping them.

umm.. using a regular deep socket might pose some problems, since they lie so deep down a cylinder it would be difficult to get them up. grab an actual spark plug socket (they have rubber in them that hold the plug in the socket)

i don't know the size off hand since I work on 4 diff cars, but just ask the auto store or take one of the plugs you're buying and just check them inside the sockets they have.

and get a little packet of anti-seize grease to put on the thread.. its like .99c or so.

oh and what most people do to tighten them w/out a torque wrench is to put them in until they stop (get tight) then give them another 1/4 turn of the wrench.

have fun

changine the plugs is very easy just use a electric screwdriver to loosen the coil packs pull em out then use a couple extensions with a sparkplug socket it works awsome then back ones are all the same except the furthest driver side just remove the two 12mm nuts and remove the peice then yer all set to go

the back ones are tough to get to, especially if you have a strut bar.

hmm, if we would have read the second post in the thread instead of posting without reading, we would have seen that tomservo291 posted this:
