My car is making a whistling sound. i took it to my mechanic about a mouth ago and he said the pulley needed to be replaced. it started up agian. the whistling sound only does it when it is in idle. then when u hit the gas pedal it stop then when it goes back to idle it starts agian.

i thought it might be the alternater but my mechanic put a full test on it and it was fine

 

do you have an aftermarket intake? they whistle sometimes at idle and under light load...

 

I have the exact same problem... It comes from the left side of the enginebay were all the belts are, so I thought it would have something to do with that. My engine has 162.000 miles on it and still runs strong, the only problem is that enoying sound at idle...

im having this problem now, but its not on idle, its when i step on the gas, i have an intake, could there be a problem there? although i can just rev my engine with the car not going n e where (neutral) and still the whistling..
