Road Kill On A Nice Saturday

Was out cruising around earlier today. It is 85 and sunny in SC today! Anyway, got my first road kill in my max. Racing a '99-'00 Mustang convertible (non-GT). I know it isn't the greatest car, but the max pulled hard-for an auto. We were getting on the interstate, so we went up to ~110 mph before I decided that I wanted to live another day instead of weaving through heavy traffic. The gap between us was so far that tractor trailer lengths (3!) is more appropriate. The power is deceiving because it is so smooth and quiet! Sorry, just had to post this----later.
Pretty good feeling isnt it. I too have an auto its a 97 SE. A lot of people take Maxima's for granted and think they can smoke them so they all try to race us. I dont really like being to awfuly hard on my max so I have only got 2 road kills, out of two though. I beat a Chevy Malibu and a Toyota MR2 Spyder. The Malibu was an Auto the MR2 was a 5 speed. Just thought id give you a reply. Take Care

I agree!!! Its great, people think that they can smoke us Maxima owners and always try to start races with us. My only question is: Why do they try to race us in the first place? Lets see here
1. They are not confident with their car so they try to race a 4 dr sedan. (and most of the time get smoked)
2. They just think their cool and try to race everyone they pull up to
3. They are feeling a bit over-confident but not for long because all they are going to see in a few seconds are the fading letters M A X I M A speeding away from them.
haha just thought id make fun of those kind of people for a while. I mean unless they are all pimped out Maxima's dont look like really fast racing cars so people must just be low on confidence trying to race a 4 door. Since I got my 97 Max I have had more people TRY and race me than I ever have before. Most of the time I dont race because im trying to take it easy on the Max for a while but when I do race well road race ive won Easily. Take Care

Im pissed
whenever i pull up to a stop light i never have a good car next to me to race...usually women that dont even look over at me to see me wanting to race...the only cars that really wanted to race were a chevy blazer
smoked him...and a jeep grand cherokee
he tried to pull ahead of me goin out onto the highway...i didnt even bring it over 4 grand.... whats up with all the Sport Uts trying to smoke me...i cant wait for a good race though but since iv only had the car for a few weeks im soon to get one

I tried to pass one 30-50 and the malibu ended up a car infront of me by 50
I beat the malibu from a 0-around 90 Im not sure exactly how far we went because I didnt look but I beat him by ateast 4 car lengths, it wasnt really a contest. I kinda knew the guy I raced, and he saw me at a gas station and asked me to race, so we did and I won!! haha Hey Nismo I have the same problem. It seems like way more girls try to race me than guys. Whats the deal with that? Take Care

Yeah im sure its the V6 version. I dont know why its so hard to believe that I beat him. My buddy raced a brand new malibu V6 the other day and beat him worse than I did. He drives a 2000 GLE, and of course they were both Automatics. I dont know how you got beat. Maybe they stomped it before you did.

Yeah Mustangs are fun to beat. Last night Knoxville was hoppin', so I decide to cruise around for a while. Ok there is this V6 Mustang and a GT convertible all at the same light, behind each other. So he revs his clunker modded out 3.8L V6, and I revved my car up. He was like, "What you got", when I told him of my Stillen mods, he was like, "You dont wan't none of this, I've got twin superchargers." So then he got absolutely smoked about 5 times.(not to mention the GT convertible). It was so funny. We raced like 5 times, and he got beat every time, he just flat couldnt hang. At the next light he kept talking smack so before SMOKING him for the final time (I was sick of wasting the gas on that piece) I was like "Let's see who's car will last 200,000 miles!"
Thats funny. Everyone takes Maxima's for granted. Hey Costcowholesale she must have just stomped on it before you. Even if you thought you did it at the same time. Otherwise you would have smoked her!!! Good luck and take care!!!

hey do you know why it probably beat you from 30-50? chevrolet uses the overhead valve system opposed to your dohc, with ohv you get a nice gulp of power when you give it some gas and has alot of combustion.
