Tranny Help

I need a new transmission. I have a '95 5 speed and had a few questions.

1.) Will all 95-99 trannys fit my car or do I need a specific one?

2.) If they don't fit what kind of mods will i need to make?

3.) Will the dates on transmissions make a difference? (ex. 12/94 or 1/95)

I have checked car-part.com and I think I may have found a one I just have to make a few phone calls. If anybody knows of anybody who is selling one or knows where I can get one let me know. Thanks in advance for all the help.

All 1995-1999 as well as 2000-2001 will fit. I would (and did) go for a 2k-2k1 tranny because they have a stronger third gear, don't have the diffy bearing problem, and are about the same price but often less mileage. If you get a 4th gen definetely only get a 98-99 since they also don't have the diffy bearing problem.

Just to clear a few things up on the 5th gen tranny. You can use your 4th gen axles. You can use ALL the sensors that come on the tranny. I was told that you have to use a 4th gen speed sensor, but this is untrue. I am currently using the 5th gen speed sensor.

What happened to your tranny?

I'm pretty sure any 95-99 Maxima or infinity I30 transmission will work. But before you rush into replacing your tranny, you might want to check around here on the org. I think alot of people are putting the 00-01 tranny's in there car because they are a six speed. Sorry, I wish I could be more of a help to you. But i would deffinitly look into it. If you can't use the 6 speed tranny, then I would suggest a Infinity I30 trans with the VLSD option. Good luck...

2k-2k1 is still five speed.

2k2-2k3 had the option of six speed. This is what you are thinking of. This is NOT a direct fit, but has been done. Not recommended if you want your car back up and running soon.
