Help with H&R wheel spacers!!
Help with H&R wheel spacers!!
Ok, I am looking to install H&R wheel spacers to fit my 300zx calipers....I have 18X8 masitaly presidents...offset unknown. While reading the blurb about H&R wheel spacers, I discovered under the infiniti listing note 15, as follows....
"15mm is usually the "thinnest" spacer that allows a 'centric hub' to be built into the spacer. To verify that your wheels will still contact the OEM centric hub, measure the OEM centric hub, subtract the thickness of the spacer, and subtract the depth of the beveled area on your wheel. If you get a negative number, your wheels will only be held in place by the wheel bolts, or wheel studs and some vibration may be noticed.
Example 1: 15mm OEM centric hub - 10mm spacer - 5mm bevel= 0mm of area for the wheel to contact the OEM hub.
Example 2: 15mm OEM centric hub- 5mm spacer - 3mm bevel = 7mm of contact area between the wheel and the OEM hub."
So the question is, are my centric hubs the same even though I am not on stock wheels? Are they using the offset for the OEM wheels in their equation, causing it to be inapplicable to me? Any help greatly appreciated! And should I go with 15mm spacers, if they are not hubcentric below that? This website lists the DRS series for application of 10mm and greater for the maxima/I30....e.g.
"DRS Series - 10 - 40 mm track widening
This spacer is fitted between the wheel and hub, exchanging the existing wheel studs for longer ones. The wheels are then fitted to the hub/spacer with the existing wheel nuts."
I just want to make sure I get the hubcentric spacers, and that they will be enough to fit the 300zx calipers, and not cause rubbing of the tires, especially as I will be installing H&R springs and kyb-agx shocks pretty soon....so, any help?
Thanks....

well tapout measured the distance from the edge of the stock caliper to the inside of the spoke on my front drivers side wheel, and said it was the same distance exactly as said distance on his OEM wheel....not very scientific, but I dont know my offset for either....I am going on the assumption that I need them....I guess what I should really do is switch out the OEM caliper for the 300zx caliper, and test fit the wheel myself....Im just not sure how to fully remove the OEM caliper with draining the brake lines....also I wouldnt want to haev to install the 300zx brake lines on just 1 side, specifically for the test fit of the caliepr and wheel.....there has to be an easier way!
i know with 16"s u need a spacer but i figure 18s would clear anything...i would put it all together and see if it rubs without spacer...if u can go with out ur car for a day or two cause u can get spacers at pepboys i think
guys, just because the wheels are 18s doesn't mean they will clear everything. i just ran into this same problem myself, and i run 19s.
i can't really answer your question, but i have 15mm h&r spacers, with the longer lug nuts, ordered. should be here tomorrow or monday, and when i get the time to reinstall my cobra/300z setup, i'll let you know if it worked or not.
