Knock Sensor Code

Knock Sensor Code

a few weeks ago my check engine light came on while i was driving and the car just died while i was driving i checked the ecu codes and reset it now i have no check engine light... do i still need to get a new knock sensor, and if i did get a new knock sensor would my car be quicker my car has 130000 miles on it and i think it still has the original knocks

The KS won't set off the light. You should check for the code again. If the KS is dead, a new one will definitely make you quicker. The KS won't ever cause knocks. When it is good it will detect them most likely before you possibly could and will retard the timing fixing the problem. When it is bad the ecu will know that and you will constantly be running retarded timing (which is why the performance sucks...it is still fine for the engine though). Also, I believe knocking is extremely quiet (also called ping which is probably a better description). How loud is this knocking you hear?
