TCS Light on 99 SE
TCS Light on 99 SE
hey guys,
i was drivin around in queens when all of a sudden my TCS and slip light come on. When i do it manually only the TCS light comes on, not the slip light. At the time i had just floored the gas pedal and at about 5k rpm is when the light came on. this is the 3rd time since i bought the car in march that its happened. when i shut the car down and restart it the light is off...any ideas?
Thanks,
Chris

Somehow your cars traction control and ABS system (they use the same sensors) are getting confused and going into limp mode. I've seen this happen to my own car when the front wheels are spinning during inspection or on a dyno and the rear wheels are still. The system can't figure out whats going on and it turns itself off. If you just drive it for a mile or two it will sense the wheel rotating correctly and reset itself automatically, you don't have to turn the car off and back on again.
Strange that it's doing that when you go WOT. Are you locking the rear wheel with the e-brake while your stepping on the gas? That will definately throw it into limp mode.
Turn off TCS when your going to "play" and the system wount get messed up.
