I would say go with one of these. Spec is made by Fidanza. So they are good. Here is the web site to go to http://www.nipponpower.com/drivetrai..._flywheel.html

didn't know spec clutches were made by fidanza....yeah....I have heard good things and bad things about all 3 of the clutches...which is gonna happen for every performance part...so right now it's just a matter of seeing how the poll goes...

I have to say I had the ACT Extreme Street disk and pressure plate for three years and put well over 100,000 miles on it and it always pulled hard untill the day I blew my trany the only reason I am getting a SPEC is because they have the highest torque rating. And since I am building a motor and turbo with high boost set up I need as much grip as I can get. But I have head good and bad testamonials about ACT, Exedy, Clutchmasters, SPEC, and others that are out there. What it really boils down to is your wallet and what you feel the most comfortable with. So if you have any other questions please feel free to ask.

Thanks,
Bruce

well, the 3 clutches in question here on the poll are all nearly the same price according to the ongoing GD....so money is not the issue...which of the 3 clutches above would be the best....which I know is a very subjective question, but I figure that a decision would be a lot easier if I had survey data to support it from a large group...

I ordered the other Exedy 86% inrease i think. I will need all the grip i can get and i have heared a lot of good things about Exedy. I was actually looking at the Spec but heared nothing about them so went with the Exedy instead... hope it works out well next week.

Hey I would say they are all good the ACT is great for long gevity. The only problem with the ACT extreme street disc is its torque capacity> To my understanding under high torque loads it will slip. Where as the Exedy will not. I have heard good things about Exedy, considering one of the JGTC500 Skylines is sponsered by Exedy. But the SPEC has the highest Torque capacity and for me thats what I am looking for. So hopefully these things will help you make your decison.

so what exactly is the torque rating on the exedy? I know they quote 36% over stock, but what is the stock clutch torque rating?

I was always leaning towards the exedy stage 1 cause I am planning on S/C'ing pretty soon, that was until I asked around and one maxima guy said his slips at only 290whp and another guy said he has TO bearing problems with his....all of this suprised me greatly, as I had heard only great things before this..........!.................and the spec clutches I know nothing about...for the price they seem to have a very good torque rating it's just that they are too new...cause everyone I ask about them has never heard of them...in addition, it was interesting to find out that spec clutches are made by fidanza...that maybe something to take into account!

All the Z guys I ask rave about the RPS clutch for some reason....when I ask though, they can't give me a straight answer as to why they love the RPS clutch...

I just wish there were more miles on those spec clutches out there so we can find out just how good they are, however one gentlemen in the GD the other day bought the spec stage 1 and came back a few weeks later claiming that it is crap...

so here I am starting this thread to ascertain more of the truth....but as I kinda expected...I would here comments from both sides...however, the poll at this point is all for exedy which is something to consider!

The Exedy just came in!!! Hope the install goes well.
I think that even when you hook the hell out of the motor, 86% increase is more then enough... i could be wrong though.

I have Exedy OEM replacement its about have the price of the stage 1. Never had any problems after 4,000 mi. I followed all the clutch "rules" as far as having it installed like resurfacing the flywheel, making sure the flywheel is clean, 1,000 mi break in, ect. I don't plan on doing any engine mods except mabye the intake since I took the stock one off like a million times already so I'm pretty familliar with it.

I have another question its a little bit off topic but what do you guys use for clutch fluid. Everyone recomended DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid so I threw that in, but I saw "Clutch" fluid and it was like 3 times as much. Would this be better? I do a lot of stop and go driving.

so when Exedy says that their stage 1 is capable of handling 36% more torque than our stock clutch..how much do they mean....what is our stock clutch capable of handling?? so that I know how much the exedy stage 1 is handling...
