Of course! A 4 banger out of a Chevy Cavalier bolts right in (snicker....snicker)...They produce gobs of HP and torque (snicker...snicker)...

Why in the F**K would you want to swap a motor that is already damn near perfect?

DO TELL!

In your 95SE (Motor Trend's car of the year for 95), you have the VQ30DE. It produces 190 hp @ 5600RPM, and 205 ft/lbs of torque @ 4000 RPM.
The numbers themselves are quite impressive, but what makes this motor special is the fact that over 90% of its torque is available from 1500 RPM to 5500 RPM. It's not a torque curve, but rather a torque "plateau". Some diesel engines can't claim this sort of torque output.

Read up, young one....
Mod your a$$ off.
But do NOT ever think of changing your wonderful powerplant...EVER AGAIN!

you say that cuz no one has ever swapped out the vq for anything... I bet if somone was acually sucessful putting a rb26det or something crazy like that in a maxima alot of people would do it... 4000 for a supercharger or 4000 for a new engine with a stock turbo... wonder what I would pick... hard core people would do this but if your not looking to get into the books i'd keep the stock engine...

How about a 3.5 VQ, from a Pathfinder or 2002 maxima? That may be something to look into! It should bolt right op but you would need some ECM work.

No one here had tried it yet but I do believe it will bolt right up. I saw a 2000 max engine at a local Junkyard with 5000 miles on it for only $1200, not a bad deal at all.

i seriously doubt a RB26DETT conversion would cost 4k or yet alone remotely cost close to 4k. all the work/time to convert it to AWD or RWD.
Emax, isnt the Pathfinder RWD or 4WD? i think it is and since being like i dunno if it would excatly bolt up, it might work but i doubt the mounts would be in the same location.

Yeah, the 2002 max engine would probably be a lot easier of a swap. Do bad the 2002 max engine does not exist yet. But in a year they will be every were though.

i have acually looked for and found that nissan engines are pretty cheap compaired to the honda engines...

rb26det go for about 3500
rb20det for about 2200
sr20det 2400

i know the work to make the engine work in the car would be mad but its a dream... just think a 800hp rwd streetable maxima

i dont think that swap would be streetable, depends on your definition of that term tho. Those prices are kinda expensive for a used motor and Nissan engines are way more expensive then Honda motors. you can pick up a B16A motor for $800 at most, we got my friend's B16A with tranny for $600. We did a B16A swap to another guy's CRX for 2k, including motor, tranny, driveaxles, mounts.

Don't swap your engine, just put some mods on it. Floor your car and notice that there is no difference in smoothness (at least there shouldnt be) from idle to redline. Few engines are as smooth and slick as that. It's also been on Ward's Auto Worlds Ten Best Engines List for seven years in a row. Not any other engine on that list has been on there seven consecutive years!!! Think about that!
