Bose Stereo Backlight

Hey everyone,

I don't know if anyone touched on this subject or not, but has anybody experienced the backlight of their bose stereo go dim for no reason?

When I turn on my stereo sometimes the lights (where it says the radio stations) get dim all of a sudden

to the point where you can't read the display? Or just a little dim?

Mine went out almost completely, for all intensive purposes its out, but if you look real close you can see it still on, but not enough to read it.

http://madchef.5u.com/maxima/bose/bose.html

Check out this link, I am going to try the display fix and see if it works.

Thanks for the link... All that work just to remove a POS resistor....It looks like a days work... When do you plan on doing it? Let me know how it goes for you....

Another question,,

Do you know where to purchase resistor replacements? I tried looking on radioshack.com but it looks different than the one that has to be replaced...

You're not the only one that has had the backlight go out on you. Recently the light has gone out on me, the volume control doesn't work correctly as well. So I have a hard time remembering if I had my radio on or not. I'm just going to get rid of my shiity hu and replace it with an aftermarket hu.

As for the resistor replacement you could probably try circuit city, they might have something for you.

felix,
I had my wisdom teeth out today, so I will probably not get to it until next week. I will let you know. I know a lot of peeps are not a big fan of the Bose system, but I love it. So I will continue to repair and purchase others user speakers, amps, extra, until I get a new car. Only way I would swap out my Bose system is for a after market 6-disc in dash cd player. Anybody know of any I should check out?
