Clanking noise coming from trunk- DRIVING ME NUTS!
I know this is a broad question, but what are some of the things that can make a clanking noise in the trunk? I already checked those long rods up by the trunk lid. The bracket is intact. I also checked the jack, and jack tools. It is not stuff in the trunk!!!! I drove with an empty trunk to find it! It does not go away. It is quite loud.
I have the exact same problem, it sounds like something is loose, metal against metal, I hear it at low speeds when i go over a bump. My shop has diagnosed it as a loose 'strut plate', they told me i can just live with the noise, it is not a safety issue. If you have eliminated anything that might be loose in the trunk I would say you have the same problem.
like newdiamond said, i have the same problem, or similar clanking noise when i go over bumps, i know i have a blown strut and the shop told me i needed new front struts and plates, so i think thats whats causing mine. it sounds real loud everytime i go over bumps, its annoying, but i just close my windows and annoy ppl on the outisde.
similiar problem
I had a noise like this coming from the front; the strut insulator was broken. It was fairly easy to diagnose in the front because you could see the large strut-nut moving up and down when you pushed down on the car; it should be stable but I had about 3/4 inch of play so I'd get a big CLUNK whenever I'd hit a bump.
i have the same problem,, i thought i was coming from the trunk.. it is actually my exhaust pipe. it seems one of my hangers broke off so the pipe keeps hitting the underside of my car. ive gotten it fixed 2 times now,, and it only lasts for about 20 minutes then its back to the same noise
By the way I know that it is definately coming from the trunk. I ride with the pass through open b/c of my sub. I had my girlfriend drive the car while having my head stuck throught the pass through. It is definately INSIDE the car.
