How Many Miles Do You Get A Tank?
#3
I used to get ~400 miles per tank, depending on how much I went WOT with my GLE. With my new SE 5sp, I am getting much worse fuel mileage. I haven't measured it yet, but I can almost see the needle dropping while I drive. It must be the shorter gearing of the manual transmission, plus I probably rev the car higher for each shift than the automatic did on my first Maxima. I don't really care, though. It's so much fun to rev the car.

Hard driving, i push it 90+ on the highway and 2 hours in rolling traffic each day i get about 380 miles to a tank when the ligh comes on and i usually have to fill about 16.5 gallons

I calculated my mpg yesterday, i'm getting 27.2 miles per gallon! I don't drive that hard, but not really that soft either... I dunno, my max just rocks i guess!
so that's like 503.2 miles per tank if i calculated right, not too shabby!

Slack has it right. Calculate your MPG for useful comparisons. No one fills up at the exact same time when the tank "appears" empty as the gauge is very innacurate. Ever notice you get 70 miles before it dips below the Full mark?
Top off your tank and reset your tripdomenter. When you fill up next time, divide the number on your tripdometer by the gallons used to fill it. Most accurate way to do it...preferabley at the same gas station/pump for consistancy.
My best MPG was 32 on a stretch of road in New Mexico at around 60 mph. Just city driving in Austin traffic get me as low as 20mph.

Well if you are making short trips with the Max fuel is terrible.... however this summer i drove a lot of highway miles and would be able to get right about 475 miles on a tank traveling ~75 mph (probably 17 gals or so, - 28 mpg).... but I get like 22-23 mpg with mix driving... not too shabby for so much power!

listen to this.... i got 320 miles a tank with 50/50 city/ highway, and i barely made it home, car stopped on the highway and i couldnt go past like 1500 rpms and it stopped again... barely made it to the gas station

Seriously, you guys all need to donate so you can search and satisfy your fetish to post on threads like this. But, I'll help shed light. If you are getting terrible city(300 or less) and great highway(430+) I suggest you stop buy oxygensensors.com and pick up a new downstream o2 sensor. I have had three go bad on me due to contact with the ground. The third is in the mail and will be installed this weekend. Cheack this thread in which I give details on this situation. I'll lay 10 dollars that at least one of you on this thread has this problem.

Had my 95 for two and a half months now and I drive mostly highway, decent amount of traffic too. I get around 25 mpg on average.
The most miles I got on a tank was ~430 and it wasn't on empty yet. But I drive like a granny cause I just got an expensive speeding ticket, and I only use the A/C on the weekends to appease the woman

Why do people talk about miles per tank instead of miles per gallon?
Miles per tank depends on how low you let the tank get before you fill up. It's not a direct measure of fuel economy, and I bet it can't be accurate to less than a 10% error.
