Anyone Who Has Replaced Their Knock Sensors ? For You

When Did You Change It, and Did you have to change it again. Just wondering if anyone's replacement knock sensor went bad after a certain amount of driving.

i got mine changed at 110,000 MI, and i now have 130,000 still good.

Mine was around 100k. I think it may have gone bad some time before that though, because the car had been feeling kind of sluggish for a while (which is why I checked for the code).

Knock Sensor - Did mine this past Monday - Still Having Probs.

Hi,

I just did my knock sensor on Monday... But this morning my engine light came on again .. I took it into my mechanic and he did a scan and the scanner noted that it was a problem with the transmission control module (TCM).. Gave the error code P0600 .. It said something about a the possibility of a short circuit.. problem with a loose wire..

I'm not a mechanic.. so I am not entirely sure what that meant.. but he said I have to take my car in and have him check around .. I remember when he was replacing the knock sensor, it was a real task to get into that spot in the middle of the engine block to remove and replace the part.. another mechanic with a small hand had to do it..

How much did you guys spend on the knock sensor? Is it something every Maxima driver has to do at some point?

I guess I gotta start saving..... my car is making the dreadful knocking sound.

cost me $250 Canadian for the knock sensor from Nissan.. $80 for the mechanic to put it in..

It's in a tough spot... but if you have small hands you can do it yourself.

Well Thorby, it's probably not something that EVERY Maxima driver goes through, just a majority. I'm sure there are still some Maxima owners that haven't had to replace it. I replaced mine back in July, and it's been just fine ever since...

I spent $100 for one off of eBay
