people w/ aftermarket front seats step in..(also need front seat removal instruction)
okay i have to admit stock cloth seat sux. i'm considering getting an aftermarket seat... but i want something comfertable. any suggestion? also is there instruction regarding how to remove front seats? btw my gxe came with 8-way power driver seat...
That is very odd that a GXE has that on the seat. There truely are thousands of comfortable seats out there. You need to ask yourself how aggresive you want to be. Do you want to be able to recline? Do you care about weight? Do you care about the usability of the stock seatbelt. Check my site for details on my seat. I opted for a bucket because the backseat is for sex and the road head is unsafe.
With a bucket your body is firmly secured and incomunication with the vehicle. Every bump you go over you can feel. Once the vehicle loses traction it is much easier to control due to the stationary position of your body. Having a bucket and full harness has saved my and the max's life several times. I've been in sliding situations that would've thrown me completly out of position and rendered me unable to countersteer. So, if you do very intense driving and racing I suggest a full bucket. Every step up from that you lose that much control of your vehicle. Sure it can be a PITA to get in and out but...for me the benifits outweigh all. Also, some think of it as a PITA to buckle up the harness every time but I think of it as a good time killer to allow the engine to circulate oil before I go boaring off. That said, Its up to you.
As for comfort, that is up to you as well. You need to go to local performance shops and see what feels good to you. I nearly bought a seat online. I spoke to the customer service guy and he swore by the seat. Said it was the most comfortable he'd ever sat in. I searched out the local stores and found the exact model and size. It felt terrible to me. It just shows you that everyones body shape is different. If you do opt for a bucket you need to consider the angle of recline. If you have long legs but shorter arms you obviously need a less angled back and visa-versa. Good luck with the shopping.

Remove front seats is easier than installing an intake. Slide two trim pieces off. Four bolts and unhook the power seat harness. The hardest part is making sure you don't scratch up your door panel or paint on the door jam when taking them out of the car.
Yeah, I recently took out my front seats to repair the leather. Just 4 bolts per seat! Two front, two rear.
Last thing: Make sure you disconnect the power cable (under the seat) before you try to remove the power driver's seat. It's just a clip-together connection, so it's 2 seconds to do.
As for what seats to get, well, I'd stick to stock and get a leather kit. OR
I'd go on ebay and buy some leather seats from a Maxima or Infiniti and pop them into your car. That will actually be cheaper than the leather kit, plus you won't have to pay to get the leather kit installed properey or spend 2 days putting on the leather kit yourself.
I think aftermarket racing seats look majorly RICEY. Unless you actually race, I'd avoid going to that extreme.
Just my opinion. I'm not the king of style or anything, so I leave room for other peoples tastes.

It's just that most of the aftermarket seats that I've seen advertised for the maxima were so extreme looking (super bright colors or huge funky designs) that they seriously detract from the looks of the car.
Clearly there are at least some out there that are very classy looking.
How much (ball park) are the recaro seats that you show there any way? Are we talking serious money?
If they are real leather your talking about $1K+ for the pair. BTW, seats are fairly cheap to have recovered at a local place. I'm going to have my ricey thing recovered in tan and brown leather to match. I'm also going to paint the back(open gloss black fiberglass) body color. If its done right seats add quite a bit to the car.
